Since 2022 I have been a resident artist working at Still Life Studios in Los Angeles, CA. As a professor, long-term residencies have always been difficult, but Still Life welcomed my long-term, part-time residency. I spend May through July and all of December working in Los Angeles, and the rest of my year teaching at my home in Mississippi. This opportunity allows me to break from the norm, get into a new creative space, and create new works inspired by a new environment. Still Life has become my home away from home and not only allows me to grow into new space as an artist but pushes me to evaluate and adjust my role as an educator.
